Metal Gear Solid 4 Game Information

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the final installment in the Metal Gear Solid series and is scheduled for a Worldwide release on 12th June 2008.

MGS4 will harness the full potential of the PlayStation 3 and the revolutionary 'Cell Processor' technology developed by Sony.

Five years after the Manhattan Incident, the world has changed. War is now a well oiled business, a series of endless proxy conflicts between Private Military Companies (PMCs). This will be Snake's final mission.

Metal Gear Solid 4 About the Game

Metal Gear Solid 4 was announced at E3 2006 during Konami's E3 press conference. Hideo Kojima (who is the creator of the Metal Gear Series at Konami) showed off a five minute teaser trailer of MGS4 using the MGS3 game engine. He announced that MGS4 would be exclusive on Playstation 3 in 2007.

Then at TGS 2005, Konami showed off MGS4 for the first time using the PS3 engine and in HD, showing what the Playstation 3 was capable off, the trailer was nearly nine minutes long and was in japanese but it showed what Snake would look like and how detailed the environments were aswell as many of the advancements in technology since MGS2.

Konami then issued a press release which announced that MGS4 would come bundled with a Starter Pack of Metal Gear Online for PlayStation 3 in late 2007. However, the game was delayed on November 4, 2007, in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide. As of 2008 the release date sits as Q2 2008 which is still a worldwide release date.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is considered to be the true sequel to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (improved graphics engine, similar and new characters, similar mission style, etc.) which is why this title is called MGS4. MGS4 will now end the Sold Snake's saga and could end the series for good, Metal Gear Solid 4 marks the beginning of a new direction in the series on the Playstation 3. It follows the release of the hugely successful Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus, which was released for PlayStation Portable in 2006 and 2007. MGS4 marks the 21st anniversary of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

It was announced in 2007, that Hideo Kojima is considering making a special edition of MGS4 that would be released on the same day as the regular edition. The contains of this supposed special edition are unknown but expect to see things like, a selected soundtrack CD, a Metal Gear Solid 4 Art Book, featuring never-before-seen production artwork from MGS4 and the game itself.

In Metal Gear Solid 4 you play as Solid Snake, who is sent to Eastern Europe, South America and the Middle East to do a hired hit job, this job is too eliminate Liquid Ocelot and stop him from making his father's (Big Boss - Naked Snake) dream of Outer Heaven come true. According to Kojima Productions producer Ryan Payton, around 200 developers are currently working on Metal Gear Solid 4.

Then on November 9, 2007, Konami of Australia sent out a press release saying that the PAL version of Metal Gear Solid 4 won't be out until June 2008 at the earliest." That includes the UK and the whole of Europe. So if Konami and Kojima Productions want to release MGS4 worldwide at the same time the game won't be released until June 2008 which is well withing the Q2 2008 predictions.

Metal Gear Solid - 20th Anniversary Boxset

MGS - 20th Anniversary Boxset

As was announced on the 20th anniversary website, there's going to be a new Saga DVD included in the upcoming Japanese MGS boxset. If you go to the website and look under Metal Gear Saga on the far left, you can watch the intro of it that was uploaded over the weekend. Judging from its content, it appears to be narrated by an all-new, yet-to-be-revealed character. Furthermore, I don't recognize his voice from any of the previous games.
